Lake Maggiore is the second largest Italian lake, renowned for its enchanting landscapes, small and charming towns, beautiful gardens, and the mild climate. It is definitely a great place to spend one of your days in Italy. Our guided tour will give you the opportunity to take a panoramic cruise and admire the greatest attractions of the lake, the Borromean Islands: the Isola Madre, known fot its lush nature, the Isola Bella, and the Isola dei Pescatori.
The Fisherman’s Island (in English words) is the smallest of the Borromean Islands, the only inhabited all the year round. It is characterized by picturesque multi-storey homes with long balconies for drying fish. Fishing is an usual activity, therefore it is possible to taste fresh products of the lake in various trattoria in front of the sea.
It is the largest island and most famous destination of the lake. Centuries ago, on the island there were only houses of fishermen, but in 1632 Carlo III Borromeo wanted a sumptuous palace, surrounded by a great Italian style garden which boasts rare and exotic plants. The palace was a gift for his wife Isabella, and from here the name Isola Bella.
