St. Mathew Cathedral

Situated in the historic centre of Salerno, it is one of the most beautiful churches of Southern Italy and a pilgrim attraction. It was opened in 1081, but the present structure dates back to 1688 when it was restored after an earhquake. In the interior you can admire scuptures and mosaics of the XII century and the relics of St. Matthew

Minerva’s Gardens

Situated in the heart of the old town, the garden was created in the 18th century by a physician of the Medical School of Salerno. Today, the garden is not only a botanical garden enriched with rare and exotic species of plants and herbs, but it also hosts interesting events and exhibitions and scientific activities. The bar offers the visitors special herbal teas and local products.

San Pietro a Corte

It is one the most important and fascinating sites in Salerno, located in and below the historic centre and dating back to the 1st century BC. It includes a Roman bath, a Paleo-Christian church and a cemetery. It is well worth a visit while you are in town
