Best of Turin
-
Description
Turin is the capital of the Piedmont region in northern Italy, mainly located on the left bank of the River PO and surrounded by the western Alps.
Turin was the first capital of the Italian Kingdom in 1861 and nowadays it is well known for its baroque, rococo, neo-classical, and Art Nouveau architecture. Several monuments reveal its glorious beauty and that’s why Turin is considered one of the top ten must-see cities in Italy.
The Best of Turin is a pleasant stroll through the most famous sites, starting from the Castle Square and the baroque Royal Palace (UNESCO), the historical and political heart of the city.
The Tour includes seeing the Holy Shroud, but bear in mind the original one is not always exposed to the public due to its fragility. If the original one is publicly exposed, your Guide will take you to see it inside the cathedral, if not you will be taken to admire its faithful copy kept in the Royal Church of S. Lorenzo. Along the walking tour you will also admire the ancient archaeological sites dating back to the Roman period and the magnificent Carignano Palace (UNESCO) that hosted the first Italian Parliament.
The tour will end in front the majestic Mole Antonelliana, true symbol of Turin, housing the National Museum of Cinema, the tallest museum in the world.
