Highlights
Discover the Aquarium of Genoa, the Royal Palace and the Nationa Gallery of Spinola Palace, using a combo entrance ticket.
Description
The Aquarium of Genoa is home to the most extensive range of aquatic biodiversity in Europe! With over 70 ecosystems and over 12.000 specimens spanning 600 species.
From the rarest species such as manatees – impressive marine mammals whose cry may have started the myth of mermaids – to the most famous ones such as dolphins, penguins and sharks; but also jellyfish, seals and multicolored tropical fish.
Palazzo Reale (Royal Palace), a sumptuous 17th-century palace, is home to both works of art and everyday objects that once belonged to the noble families (Balbi, Durazzo, and Savoy) who lived here from the 17th to the 19th centuries. Go through the rooms and enjoy a rich collection of paintings by many Italian and foreign artists (Van Dyck, Tintoretto, Strozzi), and get to know the Genoese school (Piola, il Grechetto, Schiaffino) and sculptures by Filippo Parodi.
A lovely addition is a collection of Genoese furniture from the 17th and 18th centuries. Galleria Nazionale di Palazzo Spinola is an evocative 16th-century building kept the atmosphere or a 17th/18th-century high-class residence. The museum itinerary of Liguria’s National Gallery shows off works by the greatest Genoese, Flemish and European artists, as well as an important collection of ceramics. You will find works by Rubens, Van Dyck, il Grechetto, Valerio Castello and many others.
